Student Services support lots of students with a range of various needs and problems. We also work in partnership with lots of organisations across Sefton and Liverpool so that we can signpost you to the right service to get you all the help you need. There should never be a barrier to you accessing education and moving forward with your future careers and life plans. Hugh Baird College mission statement is to inspire, challenge and transform lives. In Student Service we believe we can help you to do this even when you are not confident that you can succeed. Some of the work Student Service staff do to support students with their life beyond College is shown in the Pod Guide and Planner. There are various events running throughout the year that you can book onto by speaking to your SPC or visiting Janine Hopewell in Pod. These events are designed to support you with your personal development and enable you to stay healthy.
Recently Student Service staff have hosted 2 webinars, the first was ‘My Transgender Life’ and the second was a Prevent webinar entitled ‘extremism, radicalisation and terrorism.’ Both of these webinars were hosted with partner organisations and they gave us the opportunity to pass lots of valuable information onto you, parents and member of the community. In addition to the webinars hosted we also aim to try and provide you with valuable information in a variety of ways. The following training videos are available through student zone in the training section and you may have already watched some of them during your tutorials. If you haven’t already seen these videos please view them, the content is designed to give you useful information to keep yourself safe in a variety of situations. They also show you how to refer a concern to the safeguarding team.
Monthly bulletins are also released by the safeguarding team. These bulletins cover issues which may be topical in the local area or our city region. The bulletins are also available in Student Zone. If you have any questions after reading them please call into the POD.
