Liverpool Pride

Posted 15th January 2018.

Liverpool Pride is a local organisation which was set up in 2010 in response to the aftermath of the murder of young gay man Michael Causer in 2008.

Liverpool City Council completed a report in 2006 which identified that 59% of respondents in Liverpool had been subject to homophobic or transphobic crimes. These figures presented a need for change. Liverpool City Council set up the Liverpool LGBT Network which ultimately identified that a pride event would provide a supportive community.

The Liverpool Pride event is held in annually in August and includes a march through the city as well as a various stages which host entertainment across the City Centre.

If you would like to support Liverpool Pride you can access volunteering opportunities via their website at www.liverpoolpride.co.uk.
