The libraries aim is to support teaching and learning at Hugh Baird College by providing high quality learning environments and resources for all staff and students.

Many resources and facilities are provided in order to achieve this, as well as guidance and assistance in making the most effective use of the libraries.

We have five libraries which have books, magazines, DVDs and electronic resources to help you with your course and study areas complete with computers and laptops.

You can do coursework, assignments and research in a peaceful environment. The libraries are located in the Balliol building, Port Academy Liverpool building, South Sefton Campus and the University Centre, which contains both the Higher Education library and a Community library.

Opening Hours (term time only)

Balliol, Port Academy Liverpool building and University Centre

  • Monday: 7:30am – 6:30pm
  • Tuesday: 7:30am – 6:30pm
  • Wednesday: 7:30am – 8:30pm
  • Thursday: 7:30am – 8:30pm
  • Friday: 7:30am – 5:00pm

South Sefton Campus

  • Monday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
  • Tuesday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
  • Wednesday 7:30am – 5:00pm
  • Thursday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
  • Friday: 7:30am – 5:00pm

Please note that these times may be subject to change.

Laptops issued must be returned by 4.45pm Monday to Thursday and 3.45pm on Friday.

All times shown are term time only.

The University Centre library is open during the building opening times and can be accessed via swipe card which includes the holiday periods.

We have book return boxes in the Balliol, Port Academy Liverpool and University Centre buildings.
